AUSTAR maintains its commitment to three nominated charities – Jeans for Genes, Camp Quality and the Australian Red Cross.

Jeans for Genes is a non-profit organisation which contributes funds towards the Children’s Medical Research Institute for research into genetic defects in children. Since 1998, AUSTAR has raised well over $60,000 towards this cause, and in 2008 we contributed a further $10,000.

Camp Quality is a non-profit organisation which is committed to bringing hope and happiness to every child living with cancer, along with their families and communities through quality recreational, educational, hospital and financial support programs. AUSTAR donated over $25,000 in 2008, sponsoring 45 children a place at camp.

At AUSTAR, we value the charitable contribution that our employees make outside of the office, and we continue to recognise employees or groups of employees who’ve made the most impressive commitment to a non-profit organisation. 2007 saw the implementation of the Australian Red Cross Telecross programme which encourages employees to make telephone connections with needy members of the community during work hours. AUSTAR provides quarterly training to the growing group of employees who take part and give their time.
