AUSTAR for Schools

AUSTAR for Schools

We strongly believe that quality education for our youth is integral to the future of Australia. AUSTAR for Schools is our way of making a positive contribution to that future, by providing more than 2,500 schools in our regional service area with the kind of television resources that make learning exciting, challenging and fun for students of all ages.
Any primary, secondary or special school in the AUSTAR service area with more than 19 students is eligible to receive AUSTAR for schools, including the provision of a decoder, and installation and subscription to 24 educational channels on the AUSTAR for schools’ television package – all absolutely free.

The AUSTAR for Schools website provides users with online program guides, educational support materials and programming highlights of relevance to teachers and students.
Qualified teachers and professional educational bodies develop educational support materials in accordance with Australian curriculum including teacher guides and activity sheets to use in hand with the television programs.

Events Program

The program also provides a number of schools with an inspiring national on-site events program. AUSTAR channel personalities visit schools throughout the year hosting workshops and interactive classes aligning with school curriculums.

$2,000 Education Resource Grant

Participating schools also receive a $2,000 education resource grant. In 2009 AUSTAR for Schools visited more than 25 schools across the country, from Tasmania to Alice Springs with a diverse range of projects and support from AUSTAR personalities.
